3. Scale & Download

Crop closely around signature lines, input target dimensions (like 140x60 px) and KB sizes, and download.

Official Signature Upload Requirements

Most official applications require signature uploads alongside passport photographs. Guidelines generally prohibit signing in capital letters and demand a clear, dark signature on a plain white paper background.

Refer to the parameters below to verify dimensions for major Indian exam portals:

Recruitment Portal Signature Dimensions Size Limit (KB) Pen Ink Guidelines
SSC (Staff Selection) 4.0 cm x 2.0 cm (140 x 60 px) 10 KB - 20 KB Black Ink Only (No Capitals)

Frequently Asked Questions about Scanned Signatures

Helpful answers regarding scanned signatures and dimensions.

What is the standard size for a scanned signature in pixels?
For the majority of Indian recruitments (such as SSC, IBPS, SBI, and State PSCs), the standard signature dimension is 140 x 60 pixels (equivalent to 4.0 cm x 2.0 cm). The file size limit is strictly locked between 10 KB and 20 KB.
How do I resize my signature to exactly 140x60 pixels for SSC or IBPS?
Simply upload your scanned signature image to our tool. Our signature preset defaults to 280x120 pixels (which is a high-definition double resolution that fits the 140x60 px ratio perfectly to avoid blurriness). Adjust the crop area, set target file limits to 10-20KB, and download.
My scanned signature has a grey or dark background. How do I make it pure white?
You can easily clean up the background using our built-in image controls. Adjust the 'Contrast' and 'Brightness' sliders on the side menu. Increasing contrast will make the background paper pure white and darken the ink strokes, which is ideal for scanning machines.
Are signatures written in CAPITAL/BLOCK letters accepted on exam forms?
No. Almost all official portals (especially SBI, IBPS, and SSC) explicitly state that signatures in CAPITAL/BLOCK letters are NOT accepted and will lead to application rejection. Sign in your normal running handwriting.
Should I sign with a black ink pen or blue ink pen?
We highly recommend signing with a black ink pen (gel or ballpoint) on blank white paper. While some exams accept blue ink, black ink provides the best contrast for scanner verification and is the standard requirement for UPSC and banking portals.
